Some Tippecanoe County Right to Life Local Events

Sunday January 15th, 2006 is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.   This is an opportunity for local churches and others to fortify their faith tradition in a biblical world view.  This would include but not be limited to emphasizing the significance of human life being created in the image of God and the implications of such in human relationships, values, ethics, morality, and even in how one views public policy and behavior in the public square.  Sometimes this Sunday is also a time to showcase support of crisis pregnancy centers and their work even among those struggling with post abortion issues and such.

The week of January 22nd is the infamous anniversary of Roe v Wade. We promote the legal defense of the unborn child's right to life through law via a signature ad in the local newspaper.  To get your name listed as supporting such costs $5.  This high profile stand could be a conversation starter for a witness as part of the 'culture of life'.

In April , the Friday after Easter Tippecanoe County Right to Life friends will participate in the Women in Line for Life (WILL) walk in Washington, DC.   Anyone interested in attending this can contact Connie at 765-538-2403 for more information.

In May for Mothers' Day we do the carnation drive leading up to Mothers' Day weekend.

In July we host an informational booth at the 4-H Fair getting solid human development educational materials to youth, teens, and adults.

The first Sunday in October is the date of our "Life Chain".  This is a highly visible line of pro-life community people who hold a silent, one hour prayer vigil, holding pro-life signs telling the truth about abortion on S.R. 26 from the Courthouse, across the river and down State Street in West Lafayette and through the campus of Purdue University.  We also hold a fundraising and prolife awareness and educational  Banquet in the Fall, close to the date of the Life Chain.

Other activities happen impromptu related to judicial confirmation hearings, State and local issues, election questionaires, Crisis Pregnancy center synergized activities where appropriate, networking, blogger conferences, special speakers, etc.  Watch our blog for more information at http://tcrtl.blogspot.com
